CENTRUL DE STUDII ȘI CERCETĂRI PENTRU DEFORMĂRI PLASTICE

METAL FORMING

The Metal forming and injection equipment and technologies laboratory includes four experimental bases with an overall surface greater than 200 square meters. It also includes classrooms for theoretical training activities, equipped with all necessary facilities (smart-board, beamers) and 3 computer networks with a total number of 24 workstations.

The equipment of the laboratory also includes the INSTRON 5587 tensile testing machine, which allows the determination of the mechanical characteristics of materials. The machine has a capacity of 300 kN in static regime, allowing the automatic recognition and calibration of the force, displacement and strain transducers.
The laboratory is also equipped with the INSTRON 4303 tensile testing machine, with a capacity of 25 kN in static regime. Within the laboratory there are also specific equipment (mechanical and hydraulic presses) for metal forming.

Ones of the most advanced equipments within the Metal Forming Research Centre are the ARAMIS and ARGUS optical strains and thickness reduction measurement systems for sheet metal parts.
These systems allow the user to determine the main, secondary and equivalent strains on the sheet metal parts, after a metal forming operation.
It is also possible to draw forming limit curves and thickness reduction limit curves deformation of the material during the deformation process. The optical measurement systems also include software for data evaluation and processing, with image registration and post processing control, automatic scanning of a series of images, 2D and 3D views.

Belonging to the group of injection equipments, one can find found in the laboratory the plastic injection molding machine ARBURG 170-90-200 and the new ENGEL VC 330/80 series 219878, one of the most modern machines of this type on the market.
The Metal forming and injection equipment and technologies laboratory also owns a thermal vision camera, which allows temperature measurement with 4 spots, 4 areas and 3 isothermal Delta T. It also allows the user to perform a real time thermal analysis.
The laboratory is also well equipped with CAD software packages (Catia v5 and SolidWorks) and also CAE software packages (ANSYSDynaFormAutoForm). Also, the laboratory is equipped with the state of the art data acquisition system, consisting of the Keithley KPCI 3108 data acquisition board and the TestPoint software package.
